    perfect family holiday

We were delighted when we arrived at the holiday park and were met by the incredible views coming down the hill into the Reserve. Then to be welcomed by very friendly and helpful staff was great. We really liked our pitch, close to the sea, and not far from the amenities. And the amenities were great, 70s block buildings but very clean and tidy. The playground in the holiday park is colourful and right next to the bbq area. Another playground in the Reserve added variety, when playing on the beach wasn't enough!! All in all we couldn't have asked for more from a very reasonably priced beachfront holiday, right on our doorstep.

    Did 8 days camping

We arrived just after New Years to our clean and tidy campsite that struggled to contain our large Kathmandu tent - more an issue with the tent than the site although we noted some sites were bigger than others. There are quite a few long-term sites taken up with caravans/cabins etc, effectively permanent sites that seem to have several generations of families in residence which is pretty cool - young kids hanging out with grandad etc while the others go fishing. The downside is that some of those guys party pretty hard until (and sometimes beyond) the 10.30 curfew. Not always, just sometimes and if they go over time, they`re told about it the next day. If you have young kids with a set bedtime, that could be a problem and they may learn some swear words. An advantage of so many long-term campers is a sense of community and looking out for each other, loads of nice people here! The location of the camp is just excellent. The beach is sandy and wide at low tide, gently shelving into the sea. The tide is 3 metres or so. I had an issue with jet-ski`s coming in a bit close to shore at speed, it only takes a moment`s inattention from one of the dudes and a swimmer is history. I did note that there were none of those swimmers going out too far... Plenty of parents watching kids in the surf too, many vocal if a knob on a ski came too close anyway. All in all, a great campsite, if you lived in Auckland (we don`t), it`s a no-brainer to go there. All sites are powered which is a bonus. Even on rainy days there are plenty of things to do in surrounding towns. Downside is the westie bourbon and coke crowd getting on the sauce and getting loud, but generally only for a night...

    Fun Place to Stay

Me and my family have been coming here in January for about 7 years. This year we came with three other families and had a brilliant week swimming, relaxing and having loads of fun. The views are amazing and the campsite is extremely friendly. Me and friends often enjoy a treat of a nice slushy iceblock from the office on hot days. :) I recommend to all

My family and I have been here every year for the past 6 years. The children love it. It is perfect for families - would never even consider going anywhere else.

    great views

We stayed here with friends in our hired campervans. We had a great view of the water from our sites. The manager was really helpful and the camp was well kept. We will be back.

I have a caravan at Martins Bay and come up over the summer holidays mainly. I love it heaps and go skiing a lot. I recommend it as a place to stay.
