- Pat & Deidre Bourke
Port Waikato is unique in that it is only a short one hour drive south from the Auckland Airport but miles away from the hustle of the big city. A very quiet, rugged and isolated location with plenty of natural beauty and activities to go along with it. Perfect to make your first or last stop of a holiday or get away from it all for a few relaxing days. Make this your base to explore Raglan, the Waikato region and even Auckland.
Your hosts Pat and Deidre have recently upgraded the park to create a warm, friendly and affordable holiday experience for all visitors. With a bed for every budget, you can choose from private tent sites, powered campervan sites, cabins or fully contained and comfortable motel units.
Located on three hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds this park is great for the entire family with a jumping pillow, playground and plenty of space to run and play. A fully equipped kitchen, a nice big shared lounge area, plenty of barbeque spots, fish cleaning facilities, top of the line park amenities - there is nothing else you need but your favourite book, toys and drink, sit back and have a great time.
Come and fish, surf, swim, wander around the dunes or simply relax and enjoy some quality time with family and friends at Port Waikato where the mighty Waikato River ends it 425 km journey and meet the Tasman Sea - less than 1 hr. drive from Auckland International Airport but a "world away." The region is known for water sport from swimming to fishing, surfing to kayaking. Amazing bird watching in the river estuary, hiking and mountain biking and just getting away from it all makes this the perfect holiday spot. There are plenty of attractions to keep you busy from the Nikau Glow Worm Caves, the Cobourne Garden Reserve or the Pokeno Market and world famous New Zealand huge ice cream. Dogs are even welcome with management consent.
Port Waikato Holiday Parks is a 4 Star Qualmark Rated Holiday Park with a 4 Star Qualmark Motel Rating and Enviro Bronze Enviromental Award.

cycling tripOver many years of cycle touring in the nbfth island we have never found such a friendly and well equipped camping ground. Pat Dierdre and Bruno went out of their way to help us. We wish them all the best over the summer.
